How to update your domain contact details

What is WHOIS?

WHOIS is a query based search protocol that queries databases storing the registered users of domain names and IP address blocks. It was basically found to trace the activity of Advanced Research Projects Agency Network (ARPANET) users. It also provides the information about interaction between the communicating entities.

A WHOIS search provides information related to a domain name such domain ownership, where and when registered, expiration date, and the nameservers assigned to the domain.

Changing WHOIS records / registrant details in the Hoasted client area

A registrant is an individual holder of a specific domain name. One can use the information to notify the applicable contact requests or any changes for your domain name. In case any registrant detail of your domain name is incorrect and it is not owned by registrant of the domain, you have to update the details immediately.

To change the registrant details on a domain, follow the steps given below.

1. Login into client area.

2. Navigate to Domains > My Domains.

3. Select Edit Contact Information from the Manage Domain drop down list in the row of the client you wish to change.

4. To change the registrant details on a domain, enter the following details.

5. Click Save Changes.

The new registrant details will be updated.
