How domain transfer works
You transfer a domain when you want to change from hosting provider. You change the company that you registered the domain name with, while the owner of the domain name (you) stays the same. The only person who can initiate and complete a domain name transfer is the owner of the domain name. The process below describes the steps involved and the steps you need to take in order to perform a smooth domain transfer.
Contact current provider
Simply notify your current provider that you are going to transfer your domain. Request them to send you the Domain Authorization Code (also known as transfer token or EPP code). This is needed to move the domein. Make sure there is no domain lock active, so nothing prohibits moving it.
Start domain order
The moment you have the transfer token, you can start the order process on our website. Select your domain and click transfer. There you fill in the transfer code you received from your current provider. The order process need to be completed before the domain transfer process can start.
A confirmation email will be sent to the admin-contact in the WHOIS, in order to verify that the transfer is legit. Make sure that the email address in the WHOIS is correct, or that the owner of the domain knows this email is coming so the transfer can be approved. When the email arrives, confirm the transfer.
Depending on your current registrar, the migration process can take up to seven days. You don't have to do anything at this stage. When the transfer is successful, you will receive a confirmation email from us. From that moment on the domain transfer process is finished, and you can get started!
