Transfer domain name 2019-01-14T11:35:52+00:00

How a domain transfer functions

You transfer a domain if you want to change hosting provider. You change the company where you register your domain, where as the owner of the domain (you) remains the same. The only one who can initiate a transfer is the owner of a domain name. The process below describes the steps you have to take for a smooth transfer of your domain.

Step 1

Contact your current provider

Let your current provider know that you want to transfer your domain. Ask them to send you the Domain Authorization Code (also known as the transfer code or EPP code). This is necessary to transfer the domain. Make sure that there is no transfer lock active, so nothing prevents the migration.
Step 2

Start ordering the domain

When your received that transfer code, you can start ordering on our website. Fill in your domain and click Transfer. There you fill in the transfer code field with the transfer code you received from your current provider. The ordering process has to be completed before the domain transfer process an start.
Step 3

Verify the transfer

For some domain extensions like .com an e-mail is sent to the admin-contact in the WHOIS, in order to verify that the transfer is legitimate. Be ware that the e-mail address in the WHOIS is correct and that the owner of the domain knows that this e-mail is coming. Confirm the transfer as soon as you/the owner receives the email.
Step 4

Start migration

Dependent on the extension and the eventual confirmation, the migration process can take up to seven days. In this stadium there is nothing you have to do.
When the transfer is finished successfully, you will receive an email confirming the completion of the transfer. As of that moment the transfer process is finished and you can get to work!
