Back up WordPress to Dropbox

There are 2 ways to back up WordPress to dropbox:

  1. The installatron application manage
  2. A WordPress plugin

The installatron is used to install systems 100+ like WordPress, Drupal and Magento in a couple of minutes (click here for the guide).

A popular free plugin for this purpose is Updraftplus.

Using installatron

  1. Open your domain cPanel
  2. Click ‘Install Applications’ or ‘Installatron Applications installer’
  3. Click the ‘view/edit details’ gear icon
  4. Scroll all the way down to the backup settings
  5. under ‘Automatic backup’ select your backup frequency
  6. Under ‘default backup location’ select ‘add new backup location’ and then select ‘Dropbox’
  7. Click ‘save all’ and complete the authentication instructions, and wait

You are now done.  To create a manual backup (which also goes to Dropbox) press the backup button:

Using a WordPress plugin

  1. Log into your WordPress
  2. Go to Plugins > Add new > Search plugins > “Updraftplus”
  3. Install Updraftplus and activate it after installation

  4. Go to Settings > Updraftplus backups > Settings tab
  5. Under Copying your backup to remote storage, select Dropbox

  6. Press ‘save changes’ at the bottom of the page
  7. Click the authentication notification and complete the instructions

  8. Under the ‘Settings’ tab heading ‘Configure Backup Contents And Schedule’ set your backup frequency and number of backups to keep

You are now done. For manual backups press ‘Backup now’ under the ‘Current status’ tab:
