How domain privacy works
The Whois database is accessible to anyone on the internet. It provides people with the possibility to search the status or information of an existing domain name.
When you register a domain, no matter what top level domain (.com, .org etc), you make your information available in the Whois database. This is intended to find details about a domain name, like the owner, registration dates and domain status. With that you also risk exposing your name, address, email and phone number to spammers and marketing firms.
Hoasted's domain privacy is a service that anonymizes your contact information. With this service in place, your confidential information is no longer available to the public and will be replaces with our contact details. That way people can still reach you, without you exposing your personal information online.
If you want to add domain privacy to your domain, simply check the domain privacy add-on when ordering a domain or contact customer support.
